Civil Partnership Receptions and Celebrations
Since the implementation of the Civil Partnership Act 2004, Solitaire Events has co-ordinated the entertainment for lots of so-called pink / gay weddings - mostly traditional but sometimes contemporary or outrageous!
Our First Civil Partnership
The room for Pete & Andy's Civil Partnership on 27th August 2006 was elegantly decorated in cream and burgundy, with matching balloons and wedding decorations. Andy and Pete looked fantastic in their matching cream & burgundy suits, topped off with waistcoast and cravates.
We supplied a small PA system for their ceremony music, ensuring it could be heard at a level pleasing for everyone and that it could be heard from anywhere in the room. The evening's entertainment started around 7pm with some cool swing music from Michael Buble, Frank Sinatra et al and gradually built up to livelier tunes by around 8:30pm. Within minutes the floor was heaving and didn't stop all night. It was a fantastic atmosphere with everyone thoroughly enjoying themselves.
Pete and Andy had picked some of their favourite songs and artists to be played during the evening, including Scissor Sisters, Madonna, Kylie, Take That, Steps, Queen, Abba and lots of 70s disco favourites including YMCA and I Will Survive. The couple were so pleased they sent us glowing feedback afterwards following their Vegas honeymoon.
Other Events
Since our inaugural Civil Partnership we've provided the entertainment for lots of similar events.

Brian & Olly wanted a total transformation of their hotel function room and ordered up a large white twinkling dancefloor to match their respective outfits, and splashed out on a superb lighting rig which made for a fantastic celebration. The dancefloor was never empty as the atmosphere was lifted by the stunning floor, lighting effects and of course the music! Watch the Video!
Nigel & Mark wanted a "clubby" feel for their reception. Nigel is really into his music, and so we arranged a face-to-face consultation to work through the requirements in detail. We worked alongside a cabaret act Wigs and Willies who kept the room enthralled with their outrageous antics! Solitaire also provided LED uplighting for the room to add a splash of colour to the overall ambience that evening.
Andy & Len specifically wanted lots of Motown, 60s and 70s disco & glam rock with a sprinkling of 80s classics which we played to the delight of all the guests. A non-chatty DJ was requested and we were happy to oblige. Andy danced all night long and wore a great big smile for most of the night. The guys also hired two small PA systems for ceremony music and also for background music during their meal.
Tony & Nick provided a large request list comprising party favourites, club classics and lots of cheese! We endeavoured to play as many as possible through the course of the evening. LED uplighting made the room look magnificent in a subtle pink colour (the couple's choice).
